The development of open source software on graphic interfaces and the usability under Linux systems have advanced greatly in the last years, and nowadays some OS distributions and applications are very similar in functionalities to the ones from monopolic, proprietary software. These developments open a possibility to widen the spectrum of open source software users from programmers and computer specialists to other groups; such as those who use very specific applications, with a minimum comprehension of the OS and only oriented to tasks: the so – called “end – user”. This conference will review some reasons why animators, along with other cultural producers, may find an exciting challenge in the use of open source software; and the path of a group of Cordobese artists in the Nomade Project, http://www.nomade.org.ar

THE CONFERENCE WILL BE HELD IN SPANISH ONLY
